Ravenna
is known world-wide as the 'Capital of Mosaics'
on account of its unique artistic heritage.
After 2,000 years our workshop still preserves and cultivates the ancient tradition of
mosaic, adopting the same techniques used by the ancient
Roman and Byzantine craftsmen.
Students from all countries of the World partecipate in our classes. Usually their ages
vary from 25 to 55.
The lessons are taught by qualified teachers who are experienced in wall and floor
mosaics, copies of ancient and modern mosaics, three-dimentional mosaics and panels for
furniture decoration and so on. They are also professionals in mosaic restoration.

| Program |
Our students
learn a fine and ancient technique of reproduction, using Stones, Marbles, and
Smalti (the particular type of mosaic glass) that are hand-cut into tesserae
using the mosaic hammer and the hardie.
Participants may execute one or two copies of ancient mosaics (30 x 40 cm.) or modern
individual designs (the latter are to be provided by them).
Lessons will be held in ENGLISH and ITALIAN

| Teachers |
The lessons are
taught by qualified teachers with a long experience in reproduction and restoration of
ancient mosaics. Furthermore, the students will be given a useful lecture by Miss MANUELA FARNETI, who's an expert in this
field and a renowned writer.
Ms.Farneti will also give students a thorough Guided Tour
of the Early Christian and Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna, stressing their
uniqueness, in terms of style and iconography, as well as their particular relationship
with light and architecture which are essential elements to fully appreciate this art
form.

We
proudly say that probably ONLY our courses are based on the constant and careful
supervision provided by mosaic experts, who are also a "gold mine" of
information on techniques, materials, tools, as well as suppliers, where to shop,
etc.
Students work in a friendly environment, with a unique selection of marble, natural stones
and smalti featuring MORE THAN 3,000 COLORS
to choose from.
Furthermore, remember that the commercial value of the
mosaics you make is higher than cost of the course.

Ravenna is a
small city and offers many kinds of accommodations: hotels, guest-houses, apartments,
rooms, etc.
Our school is in the center and all of the accommodations near the historic zone are very
good. Usually hotels are very nice and not too expensive.
